Friends said the twins had appeared to be typical teenagers, pouting for selfies and shopping at Primark – but they are now feared to be training for battle. Last night a rebel fighter boasted that he was teaching girls as young as 16 how to fight. Yilmaz, a Dutch national who has been in Syria for two years, told Sky News: ‘It’s extremely easy to get here. People go on holiday … they end up in Syria.’ The twins’ parents raised the alarm last month, after finding the girls’ beds empty and their passports and clothes missing. A former neighbour said the couple had been ‘quite strict’, and did not allow the girls to ‘mix with other children on the street’. Others recalled that the twins wore headscarves when they were as young as nine. But Rhea Headlam, who sat next to Zahra in primary school, said they were ‘just normal teenage girls’. ‘I’m really shocked – I used to bump into them at Primark,’ she added. ‘They were both really clever.’ Last summer Salma achieved 13 GCSEs – 11 of them at grades A* to C – while Zahra passed 15, of which 12 were A*-C. The results put them in the top 10 per cent of their year group at Whalley Range High School for Girls in Manchester. They went on to study at Connell Sixth Form College, where fellow students said they hoped to follow in the footsteps of their elder sister Hafsa, 25, who is at medical school in Denmark after graduating from Manchester University. ‘The twins both have aspirations to become doctors – that is their ambition,’ said one. Another claimed it was ‘typical’ of the girls to head to Syria ‘after they had finished term’, adding: ‘They wouldn’t want to mess up their education.‘I’m shocked they have gone. They didn’t seem to be radical or extremist in their views.’ It emerged yesterday that the girls’ devoutly Muslim Somali refugee parents and their 11 children had been moved from an estate made famous by the TV series Shameless to an upmarket suburb, after telling the council they needed more bedrooms. They were given a six-bedroom end-terrace despite the protests of the existing tenant. Yesterday the large back and front gardens were strewn with discarded household items and children’s plastic toys. The house’s previous resident – a 40-year-old Army heroine who served in Bosnia – said last night she had been booted out of the house by Manchester City Council so the twins and their family could move in. Former lance corporal Dawn Benjamin told The Sun she had thought the house – her childhood home – would be ‘going to a good family’. She added: ‘I lost my life, memories, everything I’d grown up with, to house jihadi wannabes’. Ms Benjamin and her young son had to move out after they were served with a court order. The council confirmed the house had been needed for a larger family. Neighbours said the twins’ parents were keen to share elements of Somalian culture with them, taking round dishes of traditional delicacies for them to try. The twins’ father Ibrahim is understood to teach at a nearby mosque, where leaders this week issued a statement repudiating extremism and opposing violence of all kinds. Mohammed Shafiq, of the Ramadan Foundation, said the family were moderate Muslims who know all about the dangers of war-torn countries. ‘They were desperately unhappy to discover [their son] had gone to Syria, and they thought they were keeping a watchful eye on their other children. Then this happens,’ he said. Sources believe Salma and Zahra were inspired by their brother’s transformation into a jihadi fighter, and became radicalised themselves while viewing extremist Islamist material online. According to police sources, their brother also travelled to the family’s native Somalia, where he may have linked up with another Islamist terror group al-Shabab. A friend told The Sun the brother was known for his ability to recite long passages of the Koran. Officers are investigating how the girls funded their own trip, over fears they have been bankrolled by jihadi fighters who want them as their wives.

STUDENT GOES BLIND....IF YOU USE CONTACTS, READ THIS.

Lian Kao, a 23-year-old Taiwanese student, reportedly left her disposable contacts in, both day and night, for six months without cleaning or changing them. That may sound extreme—and it is—but the acanthamoeba can infect your eye in a lot less time than that, says Brian Francis, M.D., an opthamologist at the Doheny Eye Center of Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley, CA.
Kao told doctors she swam and showered with her contacts in, which is likely how she contracted this specific infection. "The number one thing I tell my patients is to not swim in their contacts; don't get them wet with regular water," Francis says. He explains that contact lenses act as sponges in water, absorbing parasites, bacteria, and other nasties. Acanthamoeba thrives in water, even water that appears to be clean, and because contact lenses deprive your eyes of oxygen and can cause micro-tears on the cornea, your eyes then become the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria.

If you use contacts, these are steps you can take to protect your eyes:

1. Follow the cleaning directions for your contacts, making sure to wash them as long as instructed and store them properly.
2. Don't wear your contacts in a wet environment. That means no pools, showers, saunas, or even hot tubs, as that's where the cornea-crunching bacteria thrive.
3. Don't sleep in your contacts.
4. Change them every two weeks or every month, depending on which type of lens you have.
5. Wash your hands with soap before touching your eyes.
6. Lastly, and most importantly, Francis recommends having regular eye check-ups and see your doctor at the first sign of redness or pain as most infections are treatable if caught early.

Those of you who use contacts for fashion purposes, you should have a rethink. I for one wont put anything close to my eyeballs- just saying.

India hangings: Fourth woman dies in Uttar Pradesh

A teenager has been found hanging from a tree in a village in northern India, the fourth woman to die in such a way in recent weeks in Uttar Pradesh state.
A post-mortem confirmed death by hanging, but did not find she was raped as the 19-year-old's family alleged.
A day earlier, another woman's body was found hanging from a tree in the state.
The gang rape and murder of two girls found in similar circumstances last month sparked outrage. Correspondents say more cases are now being reported.
Such attacks have long taken place in Uttar Pradesh, reports the BBC's Geeta Pandey in Delhi, but recent outrage over sexual violence has meant that many more cases are being reported to police and getting media coverage.
Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state with more than 200 million people, is also home to a staggering number of poor people and it is the poor and disadvantaged low-caste women who are most at risk of such crimes.

On Wednesday, a 44-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree in the Bahraich area.
Police said she had been threatened by locals for selling alcohol in the area and her family allege she was gang raped. Her post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.
But it was the case on 29 May of two teenage girls who were gang raped and hanged in Badaun district that renewed a countrywide outcry over sexual violence.

STOP THE RAPE EPIDEMIC

Two young girls were hanged from a tree after being gang raped in the fields outside their home in India and a minister from the ruling party just responded by saying that rape "is a social crime ... sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong.”

It's disgusting! But this isn't an isolated incident - caste hatred and a rape epidemic rage across India. I’ve been attacked in front of senior policemen and nothing was done. I know the system is totally failing India’s women. But together I think we can change it.

My country’s new leader ran on the promise of rebuilding the holy city, Varanasi, where he was elected, as a major tourist hub. If we build a millions-strong global call for the protection of women and plaster it all over Prime Minister Modi's city, he'll be forced to act to save his tourism plan.

An ad campaign like this has never happened before in India. But this is a national crisis and it requires drastic action. Let's join with an Indian movement to get urgent action to stop violence against women. Experts drafted the Womanifesto -- a common sense plan for urgently needed reforms to stop the rape epidemic. It covers law, policing, medical and psychological support, and crucially -- public education. Other major parties endorsed it, and now Modi must too! Sign now -- let’s get two million people to demand protection for India’s girls and women.

HOW I GOT MY LIFE BACK.....Hon Oladapo

An Ogun State Lawmaker, Hon. Adijat Adeleye Oladapo in a recent interview with City People reveals how she got pregnant when she was in secondary school and how her baby later died at 18 months.

“While I was in secondary school, I was a brilliant student. In my primary school I came second best student in our G2 exams but unfortunately, I started moving with some people who were more experienced and exposed than I was. One way or the other, I got pregnant when I was in SS1.
The person who was responsible denied it because I was young and naive. I usually keep to myself a lot. My parents didn’t know I was pregnant after four months and the guy also didn’t know until about 4 months, although he equally impregnated about 2 other girls at the same time. He was a big boy in secondary school, the Senior Prefect, very brilliant.
It all started by exchanging novels and textbooks. I had to leave Akute where my parents stayed to live with my paternal grandfather in Kajola, a small village which was hard for me to endure because the viallage had nothing. I had my baby in December 1991. After the naming of the baby, my family held a meeting and asked me what I wanted to do and I told them I wanted to go back to school. My paternal grandmother was totally against it, simply because she felt it was a waste sending a girl child to school after what I had done but my father was ready to give me another chance which I will forever be grateful for. I enrolled in a school not far from my house because of my baby and I repeated my class.
Unfortunately, the child died at 18months in 1993. It was like double jeopardy for  me, nothing to show for the stigma and missing school. When he was buried, I went to his grave and requested from God to help me because I was determined to be successful which was like a vow. I even cursed the boy who got me pregnant because he denied the pregnancy, that he would not be greater than me in life. I don’t know his level now but I am grateful for what I am today.
I have forgiven him. After my secondary school, I decided to leave home to begin my journey. In 1998, I was admitted into the University of Lagos, things were tight for me then but someone introduced me to a job which was thrift collecting and daily contribution. I started working there and for years, I collected daily contributions in Ketu market and some other popular markets in Lagos state. I didn’t have enough time to attend classes. I had to trek some places so my money would be enough. It was while I was working as a thrift collector, while coming from the office one day I stopped at my mother’s shop to take some foodstuff from her shop.
I met a man there who bought most of the foodstuffs and we started talking. That was the man I married and we have two kids. After then, my life changed” she said.

YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN 60 YEARS TODAY Says Dr. Chike Akunyili

Dr. Chike Akunyili wrote a warm posthumous birthday message yesterday to his late wife and I quote:

Our darling Dora would have been 60 today if she were to be alive. But she is no more – felled 37 days ago by the mortal enemy, death, on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Beloved Dora, you had eagerly looked forward to this day.

“Dearest Dora, We very sincerely admire the decent character in you and those dreams of a golden future for Nigeria for which you were ever ready to sacrifice your life during your days as NAFDAC DG. Without good people in politics, good leadership will remain elusive. Thus your hunger to make Nigeria a great brand via “Good People, Great Nation”.
“Your life was an enduring legacy of truth, courage, integrity, love of your country, pursuit of excellence, love of your family and friends, and total devotion to God. Your commitment to any undertaking attained force and vigor that will surely travel through the centuries. You never held back whatever you could do for the common good.Your numerous good deeds, infectious smiles, peaceful but firm nature, steely personality and motherly love are all unforgettable. No amount of darkness can overpower the candle you lit and raised high for all to see. In pain the children and I accept your exit.
“He who is love hath called thee home and bade thee thy labour cease.Thou art safe in His eternal love and never ending peace. Dora, lay down thy head on thy Saviour’s breast( as you usually did on mine whenever you were extremely tired). Nigerians all eulogize you and appreciate the numerous trees you planted for future generations to enjoy. We love you dearly but God loves you more. Sleep peacefully in His bosom. Peace, Perfect Peace, Dora The Amazon.”

FEMALE BISHOPS APPROVED.

The Church of England has voted to allow women to become bishops for the first time in its history.
Its ruling General Synod gave approval to legislation introducing the change by the required two-thirds majority.

A previous vote in 2012 was backed by the Houses of Bishops and Clergy but blocked by traditionalist lay members.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby said he was "delighted" but some opponents said they were unconvinced by the concessions offered to them.
The crucial vote in the House of Laity went 152 in favour, 45 against, and there were five abstentions. In November 2012 the change was derailed by just six votes cast by the lay members.
In the house of Bishops, 37 were in favour, two against, and there was one abstention. The House of Clergy voted 162 in favour, 25 against and there were four abstentions.

It is hard to exaggerate the significance of today's decision at the York Synod.
It breaks a hitherto unbroken tradition of exclusively male bishops inherited from the first Christians almost 2,000 years ago.
Some Anglicans see it as a "cosmic shift" - arguing that the Church's theology has been changed by its acceptance that men and women are equally eligible to lead and teach Christianity.

KIM'S WANNA BE.......FUNNY HOW SOME WOMEN THINK. SEE pictures.

This 24year old is really keeping up with [Keeping Up With the Kardashians] just that she runs into debt keeping up.London resident Claire Leeson has spent almost £20,000 (more than $30,000 for you Yanks) in plastic surgery and cosmetic enhancements in an effort to look more like her idol, Kim K.

Leeson told This Morning that part of the reason she wanted to resemble Kim so badly was because she was bullied so much in school.

"I was told every day that I was the ‘ugliest thing alive' and I should ‘kill myself. When I left school friends would tell me that I had a resemblance to Kim," Claire said. So, I watched [Keeping Up With the Kardashians] and realized I had the same amount of siblings and that we have the same kind of arguments and things going on. I thought she was so beautiful and I really wanted to be like her."

Claire has had a boob job, teeth whitening, hair extensions and dropped thousands on spray tans, clothing, make-up as well as a special pad for her butt to give her derriere the Kim lift. However, Claire says the pad is a temporary fix and she hopes to soon have fat removed from other parts of her body and implanted into her butt.

Claire revealed that she's "up to my eyeballs" in debt because she used credit cards to pay for the procedures, and she even admitted that her family is worried about her Kim obsession.

"When I get my Kimmy on I feel like I'm unstoppable and untouchable and I feel like no one can stop me and I can make something of myself," she said. "I feel strong. I feel that I have built enough confidence to love myself a little bit more."
