The Bible calls her a virtuous woman. She is a lot of things
an embodiment of love, a center point where the cycle of life starts and ends.
You see I was going through how the Bible describes her and I was
perplexed……..I asked myself, who is this woman? Has anyone been like her? Would
anyone ever be like her? I’m I close to being the woman that God wants me to be
in my marriage? Rhetorical questions you would say those are, but it kept me
wondering.
I have a couple of friends who are bachelors that sees being
married to a woman as a setback…I have also read funny captions referring to a
woman a punishment every man must go through sometimes in their lives and then
I ask myself, if every woman molds her life after the God-specifications,
would marriage be such a dreaded place for our young men?
Having aired my opinions let us go to my interpretation of
who the Bible says a good wife is:
·
She earns the trust of her husband
·
She seeks opportunities and takes it
·
She works hard without complain
·
She is an early riser
·
She feeds her family and maid
·
She invests wisely
·
She reinvests her profits
·
She is strong
·
She works late
·
She helps the poor and needy
·
She is organized and plans for the future
·
She decorates her home
·
She wears beautiful clothes and has the carriage
of royalty
·
Because of her, her husband is honored among
people
·
She does business
·
Strength and honor are her clothing
·
She speaks wisdom and kindness
·
She takes care of her home
·
She is never idle
·
Her children are happy and proud of her
·
Her husband adores her
All these qualities are gotten from proverbs 31 vs. 10-28,
so these aren’t just some fancy thoughts in my head. If you go through this
passage, the same questions that came to my mind would probably ring in your
head too. One of which is “if the good wife is supposed to do all these, what
role does a man play in marriage? Just sit tight together we would answers this
question on the next edition of ‘The Good Wife’. Maybe when the female folk
inculcate some or all of these virtues, my bachelor friends would be happy to
settle down (smiles).
